Last time there was a reported incident involving a Cast Extra Injured On Set of Transformers 3 where a 24 A 24-year-old woman participating in a car stunt suffered a serious head injury during a 'Transformers 3' shoot in northwest Indiana one day before filming was supposed to conclude in the Chicago area.

This time another accident occurred when a Washington D.C. police officer en route to a call was unaware filming was going on, and collided into a yellow Chevy Camaro known in the films as “Bumblebee.”

The police officer involved in the collision was headed to investigate a suspicious package report, authorities said, when the accident took place at 3:30 pm ET at Third Street and Maryland Avenue NW in the nation's capital. The officer was taken via ambulance to the hospital, while the driver of the Camaro was unharmed.
Luckily the Police officer was OK as he was released after being treated in the Hospital.

Chicago's ABC 7 News reports that an extra on the set of Transformers 3 suffered a head injury on the last night of shooting in the city:

A 24-year-old woman participating in a car stunt suffered a serious head injury during a 'Transformers 3' shoot in northwest Indiana one day before filming was supposed to conclude in the Chicago area.

Extra Gabriela Cedillo was injured on the set Wednesday night along a stretch of Cline Avenue, which was closed to traffic for filming, in East Chicago.

A stunt was apparently being performed during filming when Cedillo, who is not a stuntman, was hurt.

The vehicle was being towed by another vehicle," said fellow extra Blaine Baker. "The cable between the two vehicles broke. It whipped around and sliced through the woman's car and sliced through her skull, apparently."

Reports say that today's shooting in Chicago has been cancelled. You can watch ABC 7's report on the matter using the player below:

The movies-loving world was stunned a few months when "Transformers" star Megan Fox was suddenly replaced by Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. What didn't accompany the news was information about which role the newcomer would be taking on, leading many to speculate that she'd simply be taking over Fox's Mikaela Banes character. Now it seems that that may not be the case however.

"Transformers" fan site TFW2005.com has a set visit report up from Nelson, who serves as the site admin at Shoot For the Edit, Michael Bay's website. In the report he identifies Huntington-Whiteley's character as Carly, with no further explanation. As JoBlo points out, Carly was also the name of the character who eventually becomes Sam Witwicky's (Shia LaBeouf) wife on the animated series. We already know from previous interviews that bringing back the franchise's "core mythology" is very important to Bay and his team. Could this be the first sign of that plan in action?

There's a disturbance on the Moon. A robot shaped disturbance. Scientists on Earth see this and the information gets passed up the chain of command. In the White House men in black suits are breathlessly running through the halls, and they burst into the Oval Office. The president is behind the desk, back turned to the door, looking out the window. One of the men tells the president, 'Sir, something's happened on the Moon!' The president turns around.

It's John F. Kennedy.

Yes, the opening scene of Transformers 3 takes place in 1961 or 1962. The gist of the story has to do with the Transformers' involvement in the space race, and this is the reason why JFK was so hot to make sure America was first to the Moon. It sounds like a fun direction; there are a lot of stupid conspiracy theories about Neil Armstrong et al meeting ETs on the Moon, and this is a fun way to play with them. I hear this was Spielberg's idea, and it really does sound like something he'd come up with. If you're like me and you like the Spielberg-influenced Transformers but hate the mostly Spielberg-free Transformers 2, this is all good news.

The “Transformers 3” news conference held Wednesday at the Office of Emergency Management and Communications wasn't meant to stir up interest in the film, which will shoot in Chicago from July 10-Aug. 19, but to prepare the general public.

For what? Jets flying by Willis Tower? Cars plummeting into the Chicago River? Shia LaBeouf's awkward return to the Walgreens on North Michigan Avenue?

Nope. Traffic.

OEMC Executive Director Jose Santiago said the closures on LaSalle Street (8 p.m. July 9 to 5 a.m. July 12), the Michigan Avenue bridge (8 p.m. July 16 to 5 a.m. July 19) and Upper Wacker Drive (9 p.m. July 18 to 5 a.m. July 22) will have the most impact on traffic. He added that most of the movie's filming in Chicago will take place during daylight.

“It's an ambitious production … but we and the producers are committed to mitigating the disruptions and addressing community concerns,” said Chicago Film Office Director Rich Moskal.

What can Chicagoans expect from filming — besides traffic?

Moskal said recently a few “scenes they're planning could match if not exceed the spectacular stuff ‘The Dark Knight' production pulled off.”

Yes, he's talking about the 2008 Batman film that featured an 18-wheeler getting flipped over on LaSalle Street and a massive explosion that leveled the old Brach's Candy building on the West Side.

“Flying debris, flipping cars, stunts, that's the kind of stuff you'll probably be seeing here,” added Moskal.

During a news conference June 16, Mayor Richard Daley announced that the Michael Bay-directed action sequel would contribute $20 million to the local economy and create more than 200 jobs, including 10 internships for Chicago Public Schools students.

The movie has begun filming in Los Angeles and is expected to shoot in Milwaukee in July, Detroit in August and Washington D.C. in mid-September.

Unfortunately for fanboys in Chicago, there will be no glimpse of Optimus Prime or Shockwave, the main villain in the third flick. The robots are computer generated and added after the scene has finished filming.

Still, the cast is heavy on stars, including LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and franchise newcomers Frances McDormand and John Malkovich.

LeBeouf's love interest in the first two films, Megan Fox, either was dropped from the third film or quit, depending on who you ask. In her place this time around will be Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Little is known about the film's plot, but USA Today reports it will involve the Transformers' role in the space race between the U.S. and Russia. Bay, who considered shooting scenes from the original “Transformers” in Chicago before settling on Detroit, told USA Today the storyline will wrap up the trilogy.

Celebrity Website Justjared was able to take some pictures of Transformers 3 main casts Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson on set pictures. Obviously as the picture shows a broken glass, it seems that it would really be an action packed film.

This specific scene had Shia, Rosie and military troops being chased by an evil Decepticon, who tips the building over. For this shot, one floor of an entire office building was built on a giant platform, which tilted at an angle while “tipped over.”

A week before Shia began filming he said “there’s going to be a lot of death, human death. This time, they’re targeting humans” which should be interesting.

Transformers 3 to film in Chicago

Toppling the Trump Tower? Mangling the Michigan Avenue Bridge? Anything will be possible this summer when the Hollywood production of "Transformers 3" comes to Chicago.

"Youre going to see a little bit of mayhem," said producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. "It wouldnt be 'Transformers' without it."

Bonaventura stood with an obviously proud Mayor Richard Daley as he announced the shooting schedule for the Michael Bay directed blockbuster of July 10 through August 19. Daley said the city was thankful for being chosen as a major location for the film, which will also be shot in Los Angeles and Moscow.

Di Bonaventura, who has relatives living in Chicago, said he is always happy to film here.

While the exact locations have yet to be chosen, Di Bonaventura said many of the scenes will be shot downtown because of the citys scale.

"What is great about Chicago is that it has that wide open aspect to it so we think we will be able to deliver a phenomenal look for the film and do justice to the city," he said.

The announcement comes on the 30th anniversary of the release of the "Blues Brothers," a film credited with shattering production barriers here and opening the city to Hollywood. Since 1989, 900 films and TV productions have contributed more than 275,000 jobs and $1.6 billion to the local economy.

The untitled Ron Howard film is currently in production here, along with a new TV series called "Ride Along."

While Chicago is offering no financial incentives to producers, the State of Illinois has a 30 percent tax credit for films made in the State.

According to Rich Moskal of the Chicago Film Office, producers often choose to film in Chicago because of access to quality crews and actors and the ease of doing business with the city.

Recent project filmed in the Windy City include "Batman: The Dark Knight" and "Public Enemies."

Production for "Transformers 3" is expected to bring more than 200 jobs to Chicago. Ten of those jobs will be paid internships for students from the citys South and West sides.

"This is my career," said Montell Williams, a senior at North Lawndale College Prep, who will be working on the film. "I am looking for anything out there that is going to benefit me and my career."

Daley is hoping the exposure the city will get through the movie will be a boon to the tourism industry.

"Youd be surprised how many people say they saw us in a movie," he said. "Its free publicity for us."

"Transformers 3" is slated for release next June or July.

A killer ending for Transformers 3

Filming on Transformers 3 is currently underway and director Michael Bay had some time to discuss the third film in an interview. He doesn’t give much away, however he does confirm that the villain will be Shockwave, the robot cyclops-turned-laser-cannon, who became dictator of their home world of Cybertron after the other Autobots and Decepticons journeyed to Earth.

Bay also says Transformers 3, which he has decided will be 3D, will have a “killer ending” that will bring the franchise to a close. For now, anyway.

Plot details are under wraps, but it delves into the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in it all that remains one of the planet’s most dangerous secrets. “The movie is more of a mystery,” Bay says. “It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened.”

While Optimus Prime, Megatron and even Sam all have died and been resurrected, di Bonaventura says this film will have no do-overs: Die, and that’s it.

Bay hints that there may be a lot of that. “As a trilogy, it really ends,” he says. “It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending.”

I suppose the franchise could be rebooted in 7-10 years time. Bay’s films are hardly The Lord of the Rings, and could have been a lot better with a different creative team behind them (maybe Neill Blomkamp will be up for directing big budget films in a few years?).

Until then let’s focus on Transformers 3. They’ve already suffered the sequel curse, so it shouldn’t be too hard to improve for the next outing.

Shockwave as the new Villain

USA Today visited the set of Transformers 3 and got new details on the third film, opening in theaters on July 1, 2011. The newspaper confirmed it will be released in 3D.

Talking about the second film, director Michael Bay said, "I'll take some of the criticism" while standing at a set built to resemble a dilapidated nuclear reactor. "It was very hard to put (the sequel) together that quickly after the writers' strike (of 2007-08)."

Bay said that "This one really builds to a final crescendo. It's not three multiple endings... As a trilogy, it really ends. It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending."

"One thing we're getting rid of is what I call the dorky comedy," Bay added. So the twins, "They're basically gone," he said, though John Turturro returns for comic relief.

The newspaper says the new villain will be Shockwave, "the robot cyclops-turned-laser-cannon, who became dictator of their home world of Cybertron after the other Autobots and Decepticons journeyed to Earth."

According to USA Today, "The new film features Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime." Transformers 3 Shoot Distrupted

OK, let’s get this straight: so, doing 100mph in a Chevy on the National Mall and setting off a lot of explosions near the White House, even fake ones, is bad? Right, OK, got it. Michael Bay and his crew have been planning to do quite a lot of shooting in Washington D.C. for Transformers 3, but the city isn’t so keen on some of the production’s plans. I bet this Roland Emmerich would never be subject to such indignity.
The Washington Post says the production had scheduled 14 days of shooting in the city, with quite a bit of prep and wrap time associated with those active days, but is now scaling back that schedule because the National Park Service isn’t game for some of the stuff the producers want to do.
Like what? A spokesperson for the Park service says producers “have asked to do some things that simply are not done on the National Mall,” including shooting a car race or chase scene on the Mall’s gravel paths. “A lot of this could be more appropriately shot in a Hollywood studio,” he said. “The National Mall is not an area in which Americans come to see high-tech action movies being shot.”
Then there are the “simulated explosions and pyrotechnics” on Pennsylvania and Independence Avenues. Can’t the gov’t just lock it up for a couple hours while Bay pretends to blow stuff up? Maybe this would work: disguise the shoot as a Tea Party rally.

Director Michael Bay's official website has confirmed that Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has landed the lead female role in Transformers 3. Huntington-Whiteley has worked with Bay before on his Victoria's Secret "A Thousand Fantasies" ad.

She joins Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey and Alan Tudyk in the third film scheduled for release on July 1, 2011.

In related news, the Los Angeles Times has more on the filming taking place in Los Angeles and other locations:

The DreamWorks/Paramount Pictures production has been shooting on a sound stage at the former Spruce Goose Howard Hughes hangar at Playa Vista and will film exterior shots throughout the L.A. area over the next several weeks, including Long Beach, West Hollywood, Century City and Malibu.

"Mike, [producer] Lorenzo [di Bonaventura] and I are all big fans of trying to keep as much of our production in L.A. as possible," said Bay's producing partner, Ian Bryce. "It's a big movie. All our stage work is being done here."

In all, six weeks of the 4 1/2 months of shooting will occur in the L.A. area, with the rest of the filming spread across Chicago, Detroit, Washington and Cape Canaveral, Fla., and a few foreign locales, including Russia and an undisclosed African country, Bryce said.

Alan Tudyk joins Transformers 3 Cast

Transformers 2 sucked. Transformers 2 really sucked. The only thing that was more incomprehensible than its battle scenes was its plot. The good news? In one week, those racist twins have been given the Auto-boot, Shia LaBeouf admitted that Tranformers 2 sucked and now the biggest news of all…Firefly star Alan Tudyk has been cast in the upcoming Transformers 3 (according to The Wrap).

We’ve seen Tudyk in 3:10 to Yuma, Death at a Funeral and Knocked Up since Firefly/Serenity ended, but we certainly haven’t seen enough of “Wash” on the silver screen. A little small-screen action and a few Direct TV commercials aren’t gonna cut it — this guy should’ve been a star long, long ago. Nathan Fillion might not yet be Ant-Man, but it’s nice to see that the talented cast of Firefly (including Christina Hendricks) is still alive and kicking.

Someone over at Dreamworks/Hasbro gets it. Maybe Michael Bay is too busy blow-drying his trademark feathered hair and piping aspiring actresses to notice? Just go over to IMDb and look at the other new additions to the cast — Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and Patrick Dempsey. Holy shit, man. They’ve come along way from Fergie’s boyfriend and Tyrese.

Once upon a time, the Transformers brand had ironclad geek cred when it came to Gen X. Thanks to the Bayster, what once was certain has been lost. But with the additions of these fine actors and especially one Alan Tudyk, all of us who grew up playing with Optimus Prime might actually see the franchise return to its prime sometime soon.

Victoria's Secret Congratulates Huntington-Whiteley for her possible Transformers 3 Role

While Paramount Pictures has yet to confirm that model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is replacing Megan Fox in Michael Bay's Transformers 3, Victoria's Secret has released this video in which they congratulate her on landing the role.

Filming has already started for the third installment, scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2011. If Huntington-Whiteley is confirmed, she will be joining Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey and Alan Tudyk in the film.

Heidi Montag Auditions for Transformers 3

Heidi Montag is mostly known for being a brain dead socialite, so no one really took it seriously when earlier this week word leaked that she was lobbying to take over for Megan Fox on Transformers 3, even though she’d gone so far as to make an audition tape. Now that Michael Bay has filled the part by casting a Victoria’s Secret model, you have to wonder if she might not have been a seriously contender. Compared to Rosie whatsername, she’s a thespian and she capably fills the only criteria that seems to matter to Bay: She’s hot.

Montag didn’t get the part but the audition tape she sent in to Bay did. Apparently she missed those rumors about a year ago which indicated that Megan Fox originally got the part by washing Michael Bay’s Ferrari in a bikini. If she really wanted the role she probably should have grabbed a bucket and a sponge. Instead the audition video tries to prove she’s credible as an action bad-ass, blissfully unaware that the women in Transformers don’t do any action stuff, mostly they fall down in ways that allow the camera to zoom in on their heaving bosom.

British Model replacing Megan Fox in Transformers 3?

After it was confirmed that Megan Fox wont be returning to Transformers 3, rumors are all over that it could be Gemma Arterton could be replacing her. But it stayed as rumor and not yet been confirmed.

Another name coming out is by Geek Week (via Latino Review) is reporting that British Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been cast to replace Fox.

This information comes from nothing but an anonymous source at Geek Week, so as always, be skeptical. But the casting makes sense-- she's hot, she's shown screen ambition by showing up on an episode of Britain's Next Top Model, and she's apparently Jason Statham's girlfriend, which means she's probably been around when Statham and Bay meet to rev the engines on their giant cars and flex their biceps in unison (they may not actually do that, but I'm assuming so until proven otherwise).

Of course, you could also do a search for last year's Victoria's Secret TV special, find another young model who isn't Heidi Klum, and build up a reasonably credible rumor around her as well. So, again, don't take this too seriously until we hear more.

Megan Fox And 'Transformers 3': Should Shia LaBeouf Take Note?

I opened my RSS feed this morning in the wake of yesterday's shocking "Transformers 3"/Megan Fox revelations and spotted an interesting response from Deadline's Mike Fleming. Basically he contends that Fox's absence from the third "Transformers" flick, which many attribute to the troubled professional relationship between the actress and series director Michael Bay, should serve as a warning sign to series star Shia LaBeouf.

For those who are confused, LaBeouf made some controversial statements in the past week while promoting his work on "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" at Cannes Film Festival. First he spoke out about last year's sequel, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," saying that he "wasn't impressed" with it because "the heart was gone." He then made similar comments about "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," that he "dropped the ball on the legacy." From Fleming's perspective, Shia's statements put him dangerously close to following his former co-star Fox out the door.

Fleming writes, "Actors lucky enough to sign on for tentpoles... [are] overpaid to star in silly movies whose global grosses allow the actors to make films they really care about." He goes on to chastise LaBeouf for "lecturing a directing legend" -- "Indiana Jones" director Steven Spielberg -- "who gave him a shot at movie stardom in DreamWorks' 'Disturbia.'"

I can understand Fleming's point, but I (respectfully) feel like he's oversimplifying the situation. For starters, LaBeouf's "Transformers" comments were framed in the context of hyping fans up for the next movie, which he promised "restores a human element that got lost in the second movie." As far as "Indiana Jones" goes, the actor clearly feels comfortable enough in his relationship with the director to say such things. Who are we to second-guess that?

More importantly I think, the press cycle for both of these films has long since passed. I raise an eyebrow at LaBeouf's decision to speak out against both productions rather than criticizing just his own work, but let's be honest with ourselves: there's no danger now of hurting ticket or home video sales for either. I think LaBeouf is right when he says that the audience knows "when you've made [crap]. And I think if you don't acknowledge it, then why do they trust you the next time you're promoting a movie?"

I'm not saying Fleming's wrong and I'm right. I'm simply offering up a dissenting viewpoint. He mentions that some studio insiders "feel LaBeouf’s recent comments have been disrespectful to Spielberg." True or not, the execs aren't buying tickets. You are. So what do you readers think? Is LaBeouf digging a hole for himself with comments like those he made about "Indiana Jones" and "Transformers"? Is that kind of candor worthy of respect? Are you more inclined to see a movie that he's in now, simply based on the fact that he's there?

Gemma Arterton Replacing Megan Fox in Transformers 3?

With the news that Megan Fox is not returning for Transformers 3, speculation has already begun about who may replace her in the now coveted role. After the news hit earlier today, TheWrap posted an interesting bit:

"Prince of Persia" star Gemma Arterton is the front-runner to replace Megan Fox in "Transformers 3," TheWrap has learned.

An individual close to the casting process says the actress has already had discussions with Bay about the coveted role. Other possible replacements for Fox include models Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker.

What is interesting about this is that we got a chance to talk to Gemma at the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time premiere on Monday night. We only got her for a few seconds on the red carpet and we took that time to ask her about a possible Clash of the Titans sequel. She gave us a rather cryptic response.

"I don't know if I am doing 'Clash of the Titans 2.' I haven't seen a script yet so I don't know if it's happening," she said. Cool, that's a normal reaction, but then we asked whether she would want to make the sequel, and we got this answer: "I'm not saying."

We thought it was a weird response but moved on until we read the above about the possibility of her starring in Transformers 3. We're not sure when they would start production on a second Clash of the Titans, and one would think that she could do both, though her reaction may be telling that she's going to concentrate on the Michael Bay sequel for now.

We'll have to wait and see how this one turns out! We should know soon who gets the role as shooting is already getting underway.

Earlier this month, Megan Fox was spotted doing previz shots for Transformers 3, but now Variety is reporting that she will not appear as Mikaela in the third installment after all.

Paramount Pictures reportedly decided not to pick up her option as the studio and director Michael Bay want to take the story line in another direction and plan to cast another actress as the love interest for Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf. The trade says the decision "was unrelated to a September interview with a British magazine in which Fox compared Bay with Adolf Hitler."

The third installment is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2011.
